Bluemont Vineyard Special Mother's Day Celebration

Celebrate Mom's and all she does with a scenic, open air Chef's Table event at beautiful Bluemont Vineyard!

Chef Brad Spates will treat you and mom to eight delicious courses with wine pairings. The night will start off with a sparkling wine reception and gourmet appetizers. Then you'll be seated for a multicourse culinary journey of local, fresh food from Great Country Farms, with ingredients picked just a few steps from where you'll be dining. Each dish will be prepared on site at the tasting room and paired with a few amazing Bluemont wine selections.

Winemaker for the Day!

Ever wonder what the process is for making wine? Then come out to the most popular event at Sunset Hills Vineyards and discover how!

Winemaker Nate Walsh will show you how to create award-winning wines. Not just explain it, but help you to blend different percentages of the best 2010 barreled wines. You get to make the blends, and if you are happy with your work, they will bottle YOUR blend for you! How cool is that?!
Our 2010 wines are fantastic and as they await their own blending and bottling, you get an early opportunity to taste them, blend them, and possibly take your blend home. Sign up for one of the Winemaker for a Day sessions to taste these wines and create your own award winner! Buy a case or more and we will bottle your blend for you to pick up in early December.
Each session lasts about two hours and lite fare will be served. Reservations can be made from our website or by calling the winery. Space is limited so make your reservations now!

Have you checked out the Loudoun County Wine Trail yet?

Virginia has a many varieties of wines that are made here in Loudoun County. There are eight different types of grapes used to create these delicious, native wines.

 They are the following:

• Chardonnay: a dry white wine with citrus, apple, pear or tropical fruit tastings. Generally, vanilla, butterscotch, and toasted oak are extracted due to the barrel aging.
• Cabernet Franc: a spicy and herbal red wine. Extracted flavors can include black pepper, cinnamon, currants, mint and leather.
• Cabernet Sauvignon: a tannic, dry wine with currants, green olives, herbs, and bell peppers, with a tasting of mint and leather.
• Chambourcin: an American-French hybrid grape is known to create a dark color in wine but is very light on your palate. This wine is widely accepted to white wine drinkers as their red wine choice.
• Merlot: a red dry wine that is known to have a strong flavor in the beginning and a soft finish while drinking it. Black cherries, anise, blueberry and plum are the usual flavors.
• Norton: this is Virginia's native grape. The grape itself is dark in color and the wine has fruity flavors that include plum and tart cherries.
• Viognier: This grape was originally grown in Condrieu in the Rhone Valley in France. This grape is easily grown in Loudoun County due to the county's soils, climate, sunlight and growing season are perfect for the grape's perfect conditions.
• Blends: here winemakers combine different grapes together to create a unique but delicious wine. When tasting a blend make sure to ask about what grapes were used in this process.
